Pakleni Islands
The Pakleni Islands are located off the southwest coast of Hvar, opposite the entrance to Hvar harbour. Locally known as Škoji, meaning 'islands', they are popularly translated as Hell's islands. The name originates from 'paklina,' an archaic word referring to pine resin once harvested on the islands and used for coating ships.
