Šćedro

Šćedro is a small Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, located 2.7 kilometres south of Hvar opposite the village of Zavala. It covers an area of 8.36 km² and features a deeply indented north coast forming well-sheltered anchorages such as Lovišće and Mostir. The island's name is commonly said to derive from Old Slavic, referring to its protective coves; it was known as Tauris in antiquity.
