Salona
Salona was an ancient city and the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia near Split, Croatia. It was one of the largest cities in the late Roman Empire with approximately 60,000 inhabitants. The final Western Roman Emperor Julius Nepos resided here, and Salona served as the de facto capital of the Western Roman Empire between 476–480. Remains of Roman structures can still be seen, including walls, a forum, a theatre, an amphitheatre, public baths, and an aqueduct.
