Klis Fortress
The Klis Fortress is a medieval fortress located above the village of Klis, near Split, Croatia. Originally a small stronghold built by the Illyrian tribe Dalmatae, it later served as a royal castle and a significant defense against the Ottoman Empire. Its strategic location on a pass between the mountains Mosor and Kozjak made it a vital crossroads between the Mediterranean Sea and the Balkans.
